David Byrne chooses the double feature tonight on Turner Classic Movies and chats about it with host Ben Mankiewicz. Both of his choices involve angelic intervention: the 1947 “A Matter of Life and Death” (8 p.m.) by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger, and Wim Wenders’ 1987 “Wings of Desire” (10 p.m.). The recent documentary about the makers of the first film, “Made in England: The Films of Powell and Pressburger” (5:45 p.m.), precedes the double feature.

Would-be performers who’ve put off their dreams get another shot on the new talent competition “Your Second Chance Stars Now” (Magnolia, 8 p.m.). The judges are Taye Diggs, Heidi Gardner of “SNL” and country star Martina McBride; the host is former NFL player Emmanuel Acho.   

College football in primetime includes Wyoming at Washington State (CW, 6:30 p.m.), Washington at Oregon (NBC, 7:30 p.m.), Kansas State at Iowa State (Fox, 7:30 p.m.) and Texas at Texas A&M (ABC, 7:30 p.m.). The day’s other games are listed below.

“BeBe Winans’ We Three Kings” (Lifetime, 8 p.m.) stars Winans as a retired musician trying to bring back his daughter’s for a Christmas celebration. 

Taylor Swift’s football romance inspired another made-for-TV romance, in this case a holiday one. “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story” (Hallmark, 8 p.m.) done with cooperation of the Kansas City team stars Hunter King and Tyler Hynes. 

Other holiday fare today include “Believe in Christmas” (Hallmark, 6 p.m.), with Meghan Dry and John Reardon; and “A Prince and Pauper Christmas” (UPtv, 7 p.m.), with Brittany Underwood, Jonathan Stoddard and Tom Arnold. 

Boats with coke are found on “To Catch a Smuggler: Tropical Takedown” (National Geographic, 10 p.m.). 

“Ghost Adventures: House Calls” (Travel, 9 p.m.) goes to Texas. 

The midnight noir on TCM is “Naked Alibi” (12:30 a.m.), followed by the pair of mysteries “The Last of Sheila” (2:15 a.m.) and “Deathtrap” (4:30 a.m.). The midday musical is “High Society” (noon). 

NBA action has Golden State at Phoenix (NBA, 9 p.m.).

Hockey has Montreal at Rangers (NHL, 1 p.m.) and Calgary at Pittsburgh (NHL, 7 p.m.).
