The smoke from Canadian wildfires were almost cleared by June 27. But not from the Capital Radio playlist! So there were songs about wildfires, smoke signals and all manner of hazy skies before we got around to the 59th birthday of Juliana Hatfield and 84th for Bobbie Gentry.
It was also the birthday of r&b fixture Harvey Fugua, disaster theme queen Maureen McGovern, and also the photographer William Eggleston, who was turning 87. His memorable work adorned a number of albums starting with the one above from BIg Star and later including Primal Scream, Spoon and the Black Keys, so we played some of the songs from those as well.
