It is All Hallow’s Eve, so in between responding to your door, there is a lot of scary stuff on TV.
And there’s horror all day on Turner Classic Movies including a midday focus on the 1959 classic “The Tingler” (12:15 p.m.), which John Waters calls “the greatest film ever made.” Unfortunately, it’s shown without Percepto, the seat buzzers installed during the original theatrical run. But it is accompanied by the 2007 documentary about its promo-happy director, “Spine Tingler! The William Castle Story” (1:45 p.m.).
Also on TCM today: “London After Midnight” (6 a.m.), “Mark of the Vampire” (7 a.m.), “The Devil Doll” (8:15 a.m.), “I Walked with a Zombie” (9:45 a.m.), “Cat People” (11 a.m.), “Dementia 13” (3:15 p.m.), “Carnival of Souls” (4:45 p.m.), “Repulsion” (6:15 p.m.), “Night of the Living Dead” (8 p.m.), “Curse of the Demon” (10 p.m.), “House of Wax” (11:45 p.m.), “Poltergeist” (1:30 a.m.), “Strait-Jacket” (3:30 a.m.) and “Eyes Without a Face” (5:15 a.m.).
Horror elsewhere includes “Jennifer’s Body” (FXX, 10 a.m.), “The Shining” (7:30 p.m.). Of course there’s another “Halloween” (AMC, 3 p.m.) marathon with sequels running ’til 11.
Halloween is the thing on a new “Christela” (ABC, 8:30 p.m., where she and Maddie dress as Hall & Oates. And it’s also the theme on “Ghost Adventures” (Travel, 9 p.m.) where spooks of Ireland are investigated.
The morning shows go overboard with their annual Halloween costume bonanza on “Today” (NBC, 7 a.m.), “Live with Kelly and Michael” (Syndicated, 9 a.m.) and “The View” (ABC, 11 a.m.).
Of course it may always be Halloween on “Grimm” (NBC, 9 p.m.) and “Constantine” (NBC, 10 p.m.).
Elsewhere, a nearly forgotten incident during the 1967 Arab/Israeli Six Day war when Israeli Air Force attacked a U.S. Navy spy ship, killing 34 and injuring 171 is investigated on a special “The Day Israel Attacked America” (Al Jazeera America, 10 p.m.). Israel at the time said it was an accident, but audio tapes from the Israeli jets show they had identified the ship as American before the attack.
“The Amazing Race” (CBS, 8 p.m.) reaches the Atlas Mountains in northwest Africa.
On “Great Performances” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings) Michael Feinstein gets some company when he performs at New York’s Rainbow Room with Christine Ebersole, Cheyenne Jackson, the Manzari Brothers, Jane Squibb and Jessica Sanchez.
A new “Real Time with Bill Maher” (HBO, 10 p.m.) features Eva Longoria, Kal Penn, Gen. Wesley Clark, Rula Jebreal and Sen. Angus King.
NBA tonight includes Cleveland at Chicago (ESPN, 8 p.m.) and Clippers at Lakers (ESPN, 10:30 p.m.).
In college football, it’s Cincinnati at Tulane (ESPN2, 8 p.m.) and Tulsa at Memphis (ESPNU, 8 p.m.).
