I read your review [about ‘Startup,’ the Netflix series with Adam Brody, Martin Freeman and Ron Pearlman] with disbelief. This is such a great series, the acting is impeccable, the locations, authentic and real, as is the street-talk. The plot is entirely convincing and gripping.

If you read the audience reviews, most are very positive, in some cases, the reviews are ‘rave’ reviews, full of praise for the cast and production.

This is the first time I have bothered to write to a film critic. I’m afraid you either weren’t fully focused or hadn’t watched the entire series.

I hope you get a moment to watch it again with someone whose opinion you value.

You got this one seriously wrong, it’s not perhaps as great as ‘Ozark’, but it’s pretty damn good.

It’s gripping, the acting is great, the interface between tech, shady high finance & crime is interesting. The multicultural aspect of the cast is great it reflects the real world. The critics definitely got this one wrong. Edi Cathegi is brilliant but so is the rest of the cast.

So I’ve been in isolation for the past couple of days (covid) and needed a binge-worthy series. I found this on Netflix, and thought I’d give it a go. Hours later through cold sweats and headaches, I had finished the first season, being gripped the whole was through, throwing away hours of much-needed sleep to get to the end of the season. It’s not my second day of lockdown and I’m at episode 7 of the second series, absolutely enthralled with excited, wondering if they’re ever going to get their big break…. I paused it to tell my friends and send them the trailer and to my disgust saw these critics have put it down at 36%. Honestly my question is, who are these critics and why do we care what the think? “Power to the people”, so sick of them. Audience know best, the people know best. GET RID OF CRITICS.
