The war hasn’t stopped, so the songs that reflect the pain and destruction of battle continue on Capital Radio, with representation from several armed conflicts with artists as diverse as Johnny Bond, Michael Franti, Ry Cooder and Maya Jupiter. The worst part is how timely most of the songs, even the oldest ones, continue to be.

On the occasion of a mostly failed and ill-conceived truck convoy to Washington, D.C., a bunch of songs highlighting the nobler aspects of the profession, from Dave Dudley, Jerry Reed and Red Sovine to The Bottle Rockets and Nick Lowe. The tracheotomy song served to introduce classics from Mary Wells and The Kinks. And birthday mention was made for Townes Van Zandt and Ernie Isley.
