reflectionsThe 15-film Wednesday night salute to Southern Writers this month on Turner Classic Movies, hosted by John Grisham, moves into the (mostly) 1960s with the film adaptations of Carson McCullers’ “Reflections in a Golden Eye” (8 p.m.), with Elizabeth Taylor, Marlon Brando and Brien Keith, directed by John Huston.

It’s followed by the adaptation of Truman Capote’s “In Cold Blood” (10 p.m.), the Brando breakthrough in Tennessee Williams’ “A Streetcar Named Desire” (12:30 a.m.) which co-starred Vivien Leigh, who also the star in Stanley Kramer’s adaptation of Katherine Anne Porter’s “Ship of Fools” (2:45 a.m.).

Just about the only bright spot about the annual closing of baseball season that comes with the end of the World Series is not having to hear the voice of Joe Buck. And yet here is the announcer again, doing a sports interview show, “Undeniable with Joe Buck” (Audience/DirecTV, 8 p.m.). His first guest is Derek Jeter.

The multi-part “Making North America” on “Nova” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings) ends with a look how the industrial world is changing the landscape as well.

It’s about time there was a rap battle on “Empire” (Fox, 9 p.m.). This one is between Hakeem and Freda. And Vivica A. Fox guest stars as Cookie’s sister.

B.D. Wong drops back in on “Law and Order: SVU” (NBC, 9 p.m.).

“People’s Sexiest Man Alive 2015: 30 Years of Sexy” (Lifetime, 9 p.m.) succeeds in getting the word sexy twice in the title. A 40 year old dude, David Beckham, was the choice this year.

The computer gets hacked on “The Mysteries of Laura” (NBC, 8 p.m.).

Rayna isn’t so sure she wants Maddie to turn into a recording star on “Nashville” (ABC, 10 p.m.).

The finale of “The Brain with Dr. David Eagleman” (PBS, 10 p.m., check local listings) looks at what’s in the future for the organ.

David goes eavesdropping on “Going Deep with David Rees” (Esquire, 10 p.m.).

At this point, a simple fire drill would be a relief on “American Horror Story: Hotel” (FX, 10 p.m.).

Sofia gets plastic surgery on “The League” (FXX, 10 p.m.).

“Ghost Hunters” (Syfy, 9 p.m.) concludes its 10th season with a revisit to Edith Wharton’s home in Lenox, Mass.

Wild things have been happening on “Survivor” (CBS, 8 p.m.).

Junior switches barbers on “Black-ish” (ABC, 9:30 p.m.), which becomes a big thing.

Jimmy gets to know his bartender friend on “You’re the Worst” (FXX, 10:34 p.m.).

Joy Behar has started a new talk show at her house. Susie Essman and Sunny Anderson and Don Lemon join her on “Late Night Joy” (TLC, 11 p.m.).

Another late night talk show I don’t know much about is “Road Spill” (truTV, 11 p.m.), in which regular people talk about everyday issues while they’re driving.

“Are You the One?” (MTV, 10 p.m.) has its third season finale.

A couple is hassled by dead relatives on the fourth season finale of “Paranormal Witness” (Syfy, 10 p.m.).

Thanksgiving is happening all over the place, from “The Middle” (ABC, 8 p.m.) and “The Goldbergs” (ABC, 8:30 p.m.) to “Modern Family” (ABC, 9 p.m.).

And five grandmothers compete to make the best Thanksgiving meal on “Clash of the Grandmas” (Food Network, 8 p.m.).

Man eating tigers look for honey on the finale of “Earth’s Natural Wonders” (PBS, 8 p.m., check local listings).

There’s no room for injury during winter preparations on “Alaskan Bush People” (Discovery, 9 p.m.).

Men’s college hoops today includes Illinois at Providence (Fox Sports 1, 7 p.m.).

College football has Western Michigan at Northern Illinois (ESPN2, 8 p.m.) and Central Michigan at Kent State (ESPNU, 8 p.m.).

In NHL action, it’s Washington at Detroit (NBC Sports Network, 8 p.m.).
