The end of baseball means Fox can try to resurrect a season that started well for them. That means the first new episode of “Glee” (Fox, 8 p.m.) in a while, and the first starring one of the guys who won “The Glee Project” casting reality competition – Damian McGinty, the Irishman who has already been on TV quite a bit from his role as part of the PBS singing group Celtic Thunder. Here he plays an Irish exchange student named Rory Flanagan.
A more welcome return comes for “New Girl” (Fox, 9 p.m.), which hasn’t been on for a month. Also back: “Raising Hope” (Fox, 9:30 p.m.).
And on cable, Piper Perabo returns for a second season of “Covert Affairs” (USA, 10 p.m.).
With any luck at all, Nancy Grace will be eliminated on “Dancing with the Stars” (ABC, 9 p.m.), immediately after an episode of “Nancy Grace” (HLN, 8 p.m.). Justin Beiber sings with Boyz II Men on the results show.
The new alliance on “Sons of Anarchy” (FX, 10 p.m.) probably doesn’t match the agreement late Monday that will continue to allow DirecTV customers to see FX.
Fun fact in a promo for “The Biggest Loser” (NBC, 8 p.m.): there have been more successful marriages out of that show than any other reality dating show. So they play up the romance tonight, in a two hour episode in which contestants exchange teams and trainers.
There’s a college tour on “Last Man Standing” (ABC, 8 p.m.), which appears to be a network theme – it happened recently on “Modern Family” as well.
Gibbs’ ex shows up on “NCIS” (CBS, 8 p.m.).
“Women, War and Peace” (PBS, 10 p.m., check local listings) focuses on activists dodging the paramilitary.
A day late, Naomi plans a costume party on “90210” (The CW, 8 p.m.).
Compare and contrast the treatment of Condoleezza Rice on “Hannity” (Fox News, 9 p.m.) and “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” (Comedy Central, 11 p.m.). (They’ll both be overly nice to her).
“Frontline” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings) replays its anthrax report from earlier in the season.
Have you been keeping up with the new batch of episodes from “The Onion News Network” (IFC, 10 p.m.)?
Didn’t do any of my homework for “Oprah’s Lifeclass” (OWN, 8 p.m.).
Turner Classic Movies showcases works in which the actor and director was also star. They’re all comedies: Gene Wilder in “The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes’ Smarter Brother” (8 p.m.), Woody Allen’s “Sleeper” (9:45 p.m.), Albert Brooks’ “Lost in America” (11:30 p.m.), Charlie Chaplin’s “Modern Times” (1:15 a.m.) and Jacques Tati’s “Jour De Fete” (3 a.m.).
