Flag Day was all but forgotten Sunday amid the surreal brawl fest at the White House, so there were a baker’s dozen songs about flags of all types on a taped Capital Radio June 15. Then there were 21 songs about fights of all kinds.
We began by saluting the harmolodic guitar legacy of James “Blood” Ulmer, who died June 3 at 88, and we closed with all manner of birthdays: Waylon Jennings, born this day in 1937; Harry Nilsson (1941), Erroll Garner (1921) and songwriter Tom Adair (1913), as well as Ruby Garnett of Ruby and the Romantics, turning 92, and rapper Ice Cube, 57.
